Also material things can be perceived as culture just when they have social data, exemplify a few implications. In like manner, the otherworldly and material culture can't exist independently. Others think, under the profound culture is just the region of the otherworldly existence of society â⬠ethical quality, craftsmanship, science, and, under the material culture, the course of material life, the creation and utilization of material belongings. Biology Question and Answers Temperature, Substrate, Concentration - 1100 Words
Biology Question and Answers: Temperature, Substrate, Concentration (Term Paper Sample) Content: Biology1. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be transferred from a system to the surrounding. In the cleip, energy is changed from chemical energy(candle wick) to thermal energy(lit candle), heating up the copper tubing and water inside into a mechanical energy(the steam propelling the boat forward) Heat flows from the the candle to the copper tubing and finally into water. That way, energy has been transferred.2.The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of a system always increases. If you took two beakers of the same volume of water and temperature, then drop a dye simultaneously on the beakers. You will realise that the pattern of distribution of the dye is is different but ultimately the end result will be same. An even colouration of the water in the beakers. This is what is called the randomness of Brownian motion due to increased entropy of the system. In the second experiment, two beake rs with the same amount of water, A at 30 and B at 90 were taken. A dye was added to each beaker simultaneously. The rate of diffusion of the dye was slow in beaker A and very fast in beaker B. Note that every other factor was constant except for temperature that was the only manipulating variable. Ultimately, the solutions have even distribution of the colour. This shows that the particles are propelled by thermodynamic energy. This shows that higher energy possessed by the particles increases the rate of diffusion. The distribution of the solute molucules is thus randomised throughout the entire system. Thus entropy increases.3.Substrates bind to the active site of enzymes to form enzyme-substrate complex. It helps in keeping the vegetables fresh and avoids wastages.7. Red blood cells in isotonic solutionsThere is a unique phenomenon when red blood cells are placed in an isotonic solution, there is no net gain or lose of water from the cell. As such, the cell neither swell nor shrink. The reason behind it is water enters and leaves the cell at the same rate because the concentration out and inside the cell is the same. Red blood cells in hypertonic solutionsA red cell placed in a hypertonic solution will lose water by the process of osmosis and shrink, a process called crenation. Here, water moves from a region where it is highly concentrated to a region where it is lowly c...

It was a circle group dance that allowed individuals to shine. It included swing steps combined with square dancing. Daytime Publications says: It was popular during the Depression because of the psychological comfort it gave of strength in numbers. Out of the two dances, the Jitterbug was the most popular. It requires mass strength and agility. It was named The Lindy Hop to start off with because of tribute to Charles Lindbergh historic first solo transatlantic flight in 1927. This dance involved intense acrobatics and gymnastics. The term Jitterbug also means the best dancer because you had to be incredibly skilled to perform it correctly. Musicals After the rise of the music industry, America started to incorporate music into movies. Musicals become popular and prominent in the time period. Hollywood wanted a happy distraction from the depression. Many famous songs came from movie musical, including Were in the Money from the musical Gold Diggers of 1933. A Case Study About Healthcare Leadership
A Case Study About Healthcare Leadership Effective leadership is essential in health care organisations as in other organisations. It is necessary for driving innovation, effective patient care, patient safety, improving working within clinical teams, sorting out issues within emergency context and other aspects necessary for effective and efficient running of healthcare organisations. Transformational leadership has often been prescribed as the ââ¬Ëgold standardââ¬â¢ of healthcare leadership(Gopee and Galloway 2009).This essay sets out to: briefly discuss the concept of leadership; highlight why leadership is important in healthcare; make a distinction between the closely-related concepts of leadership and management; briefly highlight how power relates to leadership; describe some leadership approaches applicable within the context of healthcare organisations; describe leadership styles visible in healthcare; present a case study set in a teaching hospital practice setting in Africa ; critically assess the leadersh ip approaches operating within the setting and its effect on organisational performance ;and make recommendations on improving leadership practice within the specified setting. What is leadership? Leadership can be defined as ââ¬Å"the ability of an individual to influence a group of people to achieve a goal(Bryman 1992).It is also noted that ââ¬Ëleadership can have four possible meanings, namely: the activity of leading; the body of people who lead a group; the status of the leader; and the ability to lead'(Gopee and Galloway 2009). Kouzes and Posner (2007) suggest some characteristics of an effective leader namely to: be more effective in meeting job-related demands; be more successful in representing their units in upper management; create higher performing teams; foster renewed loyalty and commitment; increase motivational levels and willingness to work hard; and possess high degree of personal integrity. Why leadership in healthcare? Effective leadership and management has been found to contribute to efficiency of health care services, performance (McColl-Kennedy and Anderson 2002) and satisfaction of staff employed within them.(Bradley and Alimo-Metcalfe 2008) researched the causal relationship between leadership behaviours and the performance and productivity of staff and found that ââ¬Ëengaging leadershipââ¬â¢ improved employee engagement and performance. (Morrison, Jones et al. 1997) studied the relationship between leadership style, empowerment, and job satisfaction on nursing staff at a regional medical centre. They used Bassââ¬â¢s Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire to measure leadership style, items from Spreitzerââ¬â¢s Psychological Empowerment instrument to measure empowerment, and the Warr, Cook, and Wallââ¬â¢s job satisfaction questionnaire to measure job satisfaction. The authors found that both transformational and transactional leadership were positively associated with job satisfaction. Some other researchers reported t hat good leadership skills impacted on patient safety and quality of care (Corrigan, Lickey et al. 2000; Firth-Cozens and Mowbray 2001; Mohr, Abelson et al. 2002).Furthermore, leadership skills are essential in the world of public health policy and leadership is one of the core competencies required of public health trainees(Faculty of Public Health 2010). Leadership versus management Relevant to this discourse is making a distinction between leadership and management. They are two similar but distinct concepts. Management is seen as seeking order and maintaining stability while leadership is seen as seeking adaptive and constructive change. Leadership in the healthcare context aims to influence practitioners towards the achievement of the common goal of quality patient care. On the other hand, management as a process coordinates and directs the activities of an organisation to ensure it achieves its set objectives. Management ensures healthcare resources (human such as doctors, nur ses and clerical staff and non-human resources like medical devices and consumables) are utilised in an efficient way whilst delivering effective healthcare service(Gopee and Galloway 2009). However, leadership is known to be complementary to management (Kotter 1999; Zaleznik 2004).

Discovering Statistics Using SPSS Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Discovering Statistics Using SPSS - Assignment Example The data for this report was collected using a standardized questionnaire. The questionnaire contained three sets of questions. The first set comprised 21 separate questions concerning five dimensions of service quality. Sub-questions 1 through 6 focused on tangible elements of the service. Sub Questions 20 and 21 measured the empathy dimension, whilst 16 through 19 measured the assurance dimension. Questions 7, 10,11,12 focused on reliability with 8, 9, 13,14,15 measuring responsiveness. These questions followed a similar format to previous research in this field, such that measurement validity was maintained; a 5 point scale was used to allow respondents to rate the service performance. The second set of questions attempted to get the respondents to weight the importance they attached to each of the five dimensions of service quality. The third set of questions were ââ¬Ëkey independent variablesââ¬â¢ which measured respondent characteristics. These allowed us to ascertain the demographics of the sample and facilitate analysis of variance later. The questionnaire was preâ⬠tested for face validity with potential users of the sports center. There were no problems with face validity and the questionnaire was deemed to be reliable. The sampling method took the form of a probability sample of students at the University in question. The sampling frame was composed of the email addresses of all students. Using simple random sampling a sample size of 200 was deemed appropriate â⬠with the potential sampling error of 9%. The research used a structured questionnaire which is characterized by a diverse scales; the questionnaire was divided into three categories. The first questionnaire was determined to assess the service quality of the sports center; the results obtained on a five-point Linkert scale. The second part of the questionnaire attempted to evaluate the most important sportsââ¬â¢ services and facilities according to the views of the students; the importance was measured on a scale of one-hundred percent.

Love - Culture, Technology, and Entertainment Essay
Love - Culture, Technology, and Entertainment - Essay Example d, when a talk show, a movie or a song are not entertaining then they have little chance of influencing culture on the people who either watched or listened. Additionally, since entertainment involves showing what is popular with people this helps in defining culture. The interesting nature of any form of entertainment greatly defines the culture of people who come across this form of entertainment. It can be stated in a different argument that themes in any form of entertainment are cultural (Cheok, 2010). Technology is hugely beneficial not only to entertainment, but also the entertainment industry as a whole. For instance, through technology, it is possible to produce high quality movies or record high quality songs. The most employed form of technology in the entertainment industry is computer technology. Application of computers in the entertainment industry has made production and distribution of any form of entertainment effective and efficient. Taking production of movies into consideration, there are advanced computer software, which are used in the production process, known as the green screen. Through the green screen, movie producers can impose non-existing images or features in a movie. Technology is also beneficial to the music entertainment in the production process. Music producers use computer software to create instrumentals instead of the traditional way of playing musical instruments. Manipulation of vocals is also possible through computer software, which brings ab out voice clarity. The other area in which technology has highly become beneficial is in the distribution process. In this case, the internet has proved to be very useful. Whether the entertainment is in the form of audio of video, its distribution to customers through the internet is very efficient. The internet has made buying and selling of any form of entertainment faster, since customers can pay for a song or a movie online and thereafter download it on their personal computers.

Feminist and Dialogic Approaches in The Fatal Sisters :: The Fatal Sisters
Feminist and Dialogic Approaches in The Fatal Sistersà à à à Thomas Gray's method of transforming monological poems into intense psyche films is fascinating. While reading The Fatal Sisters, readers can actually engage in a mind performance because of the choices of words, vivid actions, social aspects, and mythology that Gray displays here. The feminist and dialogic approaches, applied together, help shape the realm of this poem into a complex event in history that still takes place today. The feminist approach reveals many things about this poem that would otherwise be overlooked. To start, Gray presents us with Norse mythology. The twelve women in this poem are acknowledging the maidens of Oden who conduct the souls of heroes slain in the battle of Vahalla. This poem is their song. It sounds as a prayer that they are reciting to the war maidens Mista, Sangrida, and Hilda. "It is well-documented that in many cultures, when matriarchal societies were replaced with patriarchal ones, the previously venerated goddesses were turned by the new culture into witches, seductresses, or fools."(Guerin 207) These women's matriarch society was turned into a patriarch society. This is why the battle is going on. Supreme classes of men are combating for more power. The power that men took away from old matriarchal archetypes. Another approach helpful in analyzing this poem is Marxist feminism. Marxist feminism points out the social class that these women are in and leads us further to determine their fate. The women in The Fatal Sisters belong to the working class. They constitute a union and are bonded by sisterhood. The writers of the 1970's movie, Norma Rae, had this poem in mind when making this film. The Fatal sisters know their job. The fate of the men's lives are in the sisters hands. "Glitt'ring lances are the loom, where the dusky warp we strain, weaving many a soldier's doom, Orkney's woe, and Randver's bane."(5-8) The sisters are not affected by the war that is taking place. Their only focus is their duties, which are to finish making war flags and aid in killing. The biological and liguistical models also shape the feminine approach. The preface draws a detailed abstract to what these women look like. "Till looking through an opening in the rocks he saw twelve gigantic figures resembling women."(Gray 38) This is very offensive. He could have called them sturdy women, or large women.

Effective Contract Management Essay
Sarah states that good contract management is to prevent the high cost of the contract penalty clause, should dictate each move made with a contracted entity. Part of effective contract management is developing comprehensive training programs that inform employees of the benefits of following the terms of the contract. For example, purchasing employees at Sarahââ¬â¢s company are informed of the various ways that an agreement with a vendor can benefit the company to save money. Without this reporting, the two sides have no way of monitoring the benefits of the agreement and developing any changes to make when the agreement comes up for renewal. Effective reporting also keeps track quantities that help both sides monitor their usage and determine when contract limits may have been met. Sarahââ¬â¢s company relies on contracts with suppliers to keep her business running efficiently. Shippers, vendors, and financial institutions etc. all require a high level of contract management t o maintain efficient relationships with all of them. Understanding the effect of a good contract administration is essential in business making decisions that would maximize revenues and minimize risks. A contract is drawn up to create the guidelines for a business relationship. When parties abide by the terms of a contract, the company gains from the benefits that it has to offer. But poor contract administration can cause businesses to violate terms of the contract, which can lead to penalties, fines and a potential lawsuit. Good contract management is to prevent the high cost of the contract penalty clause, should dictate each move made with a contracted entity. Part of effective contract management is developing comprehensive training programs that inform employees of the benefits of following the terms of the contract. For example, in my company the purchasing people are informed of the various ways that an agreement with a vendor can benefit the company and how it will save the company money. Without this reporting, the two sides have no way of monitoring the benefits of the agreement and developing any changes to make when the agreement comes up for renewal. Effective reporti ng also keeps track of quantities that help each side monitor their usage and determine when contract limits may have been met.

The Compromise of 1850 Delayed the Civil War 10 years
The Compromise of 1850 was a set of bills passed in Congress which tried to settle the issue of slavery, which was about to split the nation. The legislation was highly controversial and it was only passed after a long series of battles on Capitol Hill. It was destined to be unpopular, as just about every part of the nation found something to dislike about its provisions. Yet the Compromise of 1850 served its purpose. For a time it kept the Union from splitting, and it essentially delayed the outbreak of the Civil War for a decade. The Mexican War Led to the Compromise of 1850 As the Mexican War ended in 1848, vast stretches of land acquired from Mexico were going to be added to the United States as new territories or states. Once again, the issue of slavery came to the forefront of American political life. Would new states and territories be free states or slave states? President Zachary Taylor wanted California admitted as a free state, and wanted New Mexico and Utah admitted as territories which excluded slavery under their territorial constitutions. Politicians from the South objected, claiming that admitting California would upset the balance between slave and free states and would split the Union. On Capitol Hill, some familiar and formidable characters, including Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John C. Calhoun, began trying to hammer out some sort of compromise. Thirty years earlier, in 1820, the U.S. Congress, largely at the direction of Clay, had tried to settle similar questions about slavery with the Missouri Compromise. It was hoped that something similar could be achieved to lessen tensions and avoid a sectional conflict. The Compromise of 1850 Was an Omnibus Bill Henry Clay, who had come out of retirement and was serving as a senator from Kentucky, put together a group of five separate bills as an omnibus bill which became known as the Compromise of 1850. Clays proposed legislation would admit California as a free state; allow New Mexico to decide whether it wanted to be a free state or slave state; enact a strong federal fugitive slave law, and preserve slavery in the District of Columbia. Clay tried to get the Congress to consider the issues in one general bill, but couldnt get the votes to pass it. Senator Stephen Douglas became involved and essentially took the bill apart into its separate components and was able to get each bill through Congress. Components of the Compromise of 1850 The final version of the Compromise of 1850 had five major components: California was admitted as a free state.Territories of New Mexico and Utah were given the option of legalizing slavery. The border between Texas and New Mexico was fixed.A stronger fugitive slave law was enacted. The slave trade was abolished in the District of Columbia, though slavery remained legal. Importance of the Compromise of 1850 The Compromise of 1850 did accomplish what was intended at the time, as it held the Union together. But it was bound to be a temporary solution. One particular part of the compromise, the stronger Fugitive Slave Act, was almost immediately a cause of great controversy. The bill intensified the hunting of slaves who had made it to free territory. And it led, for example, to the Christiana Riot, an incident in rural Pennsylvania in September 1851 in which a Maryland farmer was killed while trying to apprehend slaves who had escaped from his estate. Disassembling the Compromise The Kansas-Nebraska Act, legislation guided through Congress by Senator Stephen Douglas only four years later, would prove even more controversial. Provisions in the Kansas-Nebraska Act were widely disliked as they repealed the venerable Missouri Compromise. The new legislation led to violence in Kansas, which was dubbed Bleeding Kansas by the legendary newspaper editor Horace Greeley. The Kansas-Nebraska Act also inspired Abraham Lincoln to become involved in politics again, and his debates with Stephen Douglas in 1858 set the stage for his run for the White House. And, of course, the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 would inflame passions in the South and lead to the secession crisis and the American Civil War. The Compromise of 1850 may have delayed the splitting of the Union many Americans feared, but it couldnt prevent it forever. Sources and Further Reading Ashworth, John. Dont Be Concerned About Ground Bees
Ground bees are non-aggressive, beneficial insects that rarely sting. Their nesting season is limited, so unless you or a family member has an allergy to bee stings, you can feel comfortable leaving their nests alone and letting them carry out their business in peace. Fast Facts: Ground Bee Species Ground bees are members of the superfamily Apoidea. Species include:Digger bees (family Anthoporidae)Sweat bees (family Halictidae)Mining bees (family Andrenidae). Ground Bee Traits and Nesting Characteristics As the name implies, ground bees dig their nests in the ground, often in bare patches of the lawn or garden. Ground bees become active in early spring. Females are solitary creatures, excavating nests in dry soil. Each female fastidiously mounds the loose soil around her nest entrance, then provisions her home with pollen and nectar for her offspring. Despite their solitary nature, its not unusual to find dozens of ground bee nests in one area if conditions are suitable. Female ground bees mayà sting if sufficiently threatened, however, being non-aggressive by nature, they rarely do. Males fly over burrows patrolling for potential mates, and while males of some species may behave aggressively when in proximity to a nest, they lack stingers, so other than being scary, theyre essentially harmless. How to Identify Ground Bee Nests If you find mounds of soil similar to anthills but with larger openings, they might be ground bee nests. Be aware that bumblebees also nest in underground burrows, although they typically use abandoned rodent burrows rather than excavate new ones. Unlike ground bees, bumblebees live in social colonies. Always observe a bees nest from a safe distance when youre trying to identify a species. Watch for bees flying low over the ground and entering the burrow. Do you see a single bee coming and going, or multiple bees entering the nest? Numerous bees are an indication of a colony. Social beesââ¬âincluding bumblebeesââ¬âwill defend their nests aggressively, so before you take any action, its best to be sure you know what youre dealing with. Likewise, yellowjackets (nasty stingers) nest in the ground, and like bumblebees, often repurpose old rodent burrows for their nests. Some solitary wasps are ground nesters, as well. Its never safe to simply assume a nest is filled with docile, ground bees. Make sure to learn the differences between bees and wasps and take proper precautions to protect yourself and your family accordingly. Should You Rid Your Yard of Ground Bees? Before you decide to evict ground bees from your property, first and foremost, remember that these bees are beneficial insects that perform an important role as pollinators. Since theyre not generally aggressive, you can usually mow your lawn and continue regular outdoor activities without fear of being stung. Finally, their nesting activity is limited to spring, so ground bees arent in residence for very long. Unless you have concerns for a family member with a bee venom allergy, its preferable to leave ground bees alone whenever possible. Best Practices for Controlling Ground Bees Ground bees nest in dry soil, avoiding damp areas when choosing nesting sites. The easiest, least-toxic method for controlling ground bees is to simply keep potential nesting sites well watered. As soon as you notice ground bee activity, begin soaking the area with a full inch of water each week. This is usually enough to discourage females from burrowing and to persuade them to relocate to drier ground. A thick layer of mulch on bare garden beds can also make ground bees think twice about nesting. Pesticides are not recommended for ground bee control.

Was It the work of revolutionaries Like Lenin and Trotsky? Certainly not ââ¬â they were mostly either in prison or in exile. Courses in Drama Essay Example For Students
Courses in Drama Essay On the other hand Nora after understanding that her husband is not who she thought he was acts very reasonably and very calmly. She decides to leave her husband that immediate moment and is not willing to spend one more night under the same roof as him. The fact that she takes her time to change to suitable clothes and is able to explain for her husband the reason behind leaving him, proves that unlike Miss Julie who decides (actually obeys what Jean orders her) in a moment of panic, she is completely conscious and aware of what she is doing. While Strindberg pessimistically suggests that once you made a mistake there is no way back and you are doomed to accept your fate, Ibsen shows that after eight years of marriage and having three children, still the best thing to do is to leave that unpleasant situation. Finding who you are and finding your goal in life is the most important duty on has in her life. Upbringing of Nora and Miss Julie suggests a great difference between the points of views of the two authors. Nora, as she says herself was like a doll first to her father and then to her husband. She was thought and expected not to have any idea about serious subjects and was brought up in a completely feminine way. From the beginning of the play we see that Helmer controls every aspect of her life as if she was a child and needed constant care:à ââ¬Å"Helmer (wagging his finger at her): Hasnt Miss Sweet Tooth been breaking rules in town today?â⬠à How Nora talks about money and life suggests that she is still immature in her world view. Even her reaction to the law systems is immature:à ââ¬Å"Krogstad: The law cares nothing about motives.à Nora: Then it must be a very foolish law.â⬠Mrs. Linde who is an independent woman and has had a life completely different from that of Nora, thinks that she hasnââ¬â¢t grown up. She sees that something in Nora and Helmerââ¬â¢s relationship is wrong and thatââ¬â¢s why she insists that Nora tell her husband the secret. Nora has done only one thing independently which she is proud of and that is saving her husbandââ¬â¢s life. When she sees that Helmer reproaches her for saving his life and that he wouldnââ¬â¢t do the same thing for her, her illusions are shattered and for the first time she understands that she has to change her life. On the other hand Miss Julieââ¬â¢s mother has brought her up in a way not to be like Nora. She has grown up doing what boys do and having the same opportunities as them. Her mother teaches her to hate men and she does so. Strindberg has tried to show that this kind of education is wrong and it cannot end well. At the beginning of the play Miss Julie is superior to Jean because she is aristocrat. But as we go on we see that Jean becomes superior because he is a man. His language changes, he insults her. He even proudly suggests that he has better ancestors than her: ââ¬Å"Jean: Ive got better ancestors than you have: I havent got any incendiaries in my pedigree.à But I read in a book on the drawing-room table about your pedigree. Do you know what the founder of your line was? A miller with whose wife the king spent a night during the Danish war. I dont run to ancestors like that. Ive got no ancestors at all, as a matter of fact, but I can be an ancestor myself.â⬠.u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 , .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .postImageUrl , .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 , .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:hover , .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:visited , .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:active { border:0!important; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:active , .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219 .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u3d4619be0ddbac8ff38fc903bc2f7219:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Woman in Black Argumentative EssayStrindberg mocks Ibsenââ¬â¢s idea that women should be independent and that they may easily relieve themselves from the mail dominant environments, by showing that Miss Julie doesnââ¬â¢t have any other way except committing suicide because of her upbringing. She suggests that changing the places of males and females in society or even mixing them causes catastrophe, and he also elaborates the naturalistic belief that one has no role in making his or her own future. Another difference between the two plays may be in the approach the writers have taken to build up to the final incidents of the plays. Strindberg uses not logically organized dialogues as it may happen in natural life. But in A Dollââ¬â¢s House there are lots of carefully chosen sentences uttered by character that all in all may give us a clue what the character will do in the future. For example Helmerââ¬â¢s fine speeches about how he hates borrowing money and being in debt and his criticizing Krogstad for the crime he has committed, all ironically point to his possible reaction to finding out about Noraââ¬â¢s secret.à à As a conclusion, we can say that Miss Julie written as a response to A Dollââ¬â¢s House tries to question the feministic values of Ibsenââ¬â¢s work and for this reason either intentionally or no has been influenced by A Dollââ¬â¢s House. Lords Of The Flies Essays - Fiction, Literature, Allegory
Lords Of The Flies The story is about a group of English schoolboys who are plane-wrecked on a deserted island. At first, the stranded boys cooperate, attempting to gather food, make shelters, and maintain signal fires. Later Ralph, he started to act up and boss people around thinking he's the king of the island. Piggy, Ralph's over weighted, sidekick who pretty much the only one that listens to Ralph. When Ralph tries to order people around. The boys would rather swim, play, or hunt the island's wild pig population. Soon Ralph's rules are being ignored or don't even notice Ralph existed. Ralph's competition is Jack, the redheaded leader of the pig hunters, who manages to lure away many of the boys to join him. The situation changes when Ralph discovers that instead of being hunters, he and Piggy have become the ones being hunted. The novel tells about competition between two different groups and who will become the leader at the end. Overall, the story was pretty good. However it was confusing to start, I got used to reading it as I went along, which took a while. I like the style when I got use to it. I think the writing really related to what were studying in American History. It explains how society was made, it starts with people, they make rules and form an economy, and there are leaders and followers, the ones that think and ones that work. Like in US history, something happens and society falls apart, like the great depression. It is interesting to see how a group of boys can go from being so orderly to turn into competition against each other. This has a lot of suspense in it, lots of detail, and didn't feel like some fairy tale. The book contained great amounts of violence to kids fighting against each other. When I read the book, it made me think of the shootings that happened lately. When the media said that the kids were influenced by violent video games, music and Hitler to the shootings, I would say this book has the same effect. The book is like the games and music. The only difference of the book, it's not visual and hands on. Of course words in a book can't be the same as watching TV. My experience reading the book and later watching the movie, I felt I can absorb more detail and had a better understanding of it. I would say the author is also talking about too much democracy. I think he is trying to show, if a country ended up with people making up there own rules, it would cause trouble. Like ev eryone wants to be a leader and the weaker one will get picked on. Also it shows that kids can't live by themselves. Kids need an adult to settle the differences and give them rules to follow. Overall, it's a great book, short, lots of action and simple.
